about bbaa

Come “INN” and let us introduce
The BED & BREAKFAST ASSOCIATION OF ALABAMA

The Bed & Breakfast Association of Alabama was organized in July, 1994 and has experienced immense growth. The Association began with fourteen charter members and today boasts a membership of approximately fifty bed & breakfast inns throughout the state. BBAA has received statewide recognition as “THE” voice for our segment of the tourism industry in Alabama. It is the goal of the Association to promote awareness of B&B’s to the public and to seek out new members. The value of membership is found not only in the many services that are outlined below and available to each individual B&B owner/manager, but also in the invaluable networking within the association membership.

BBAA Brochure : Each Member B & B is listed in our yearly Brochure. New Members need to have their Application for Membership process started by August 1 to be considered for inclusion in next Brochure. Each Member receives Brochures to be displayed at their B & B and to pass out to local Chambers, etc. Brochures are also distributed at the 4 major Alabama airports: Huntsville , Birmingham, Montgomery & Mobile . Brochures are mailed to those requesting them from the BBAA Website. The Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel (1-800-ALABAMA) distributes our Brochures, for display & distribution to prospective guests, at all 8 Alabama Welcome Centers and also forwards BBAA Brochures upon request.

Association Meetings & Conference : District Meetings are scheduled quarterly by the District Director. Annual meetings are held in January during our Annual BBAA Conference (discount for Members) which includes workshops (including Aspiring Innkeeper & Innkeeper Certification Workshops), roundtables and open sessions that provide opportunities for networking. Featured are special speakers such as travel writers and industry experts along with vendors of products and services.

Standards Program: BBAA has established high standards for membership. The Association requires membership to adhere to these standards. The Program is implemented by making it a part of the initial property inspection prior to membership and re-inspection every two years for membership. The BBAA designation and high standards are synonymous throughout the industry.

Public Relations Services: Services are available through the Alabama Bureau of Tourism & Travel, national and international publications, with magazine articles written by local travel writers. By pooling our resources, BBAA is advertising to help promote all our Member B & B's throughout the State, Country and beyond!  Southern Lady Magazine is running a full page ad for one year for BBAA starting with the November/December 2007 issue.  Each issue's advertisement will be updated to reflect current BBAA Members.  Plans are in the works to more strongly promote BBAA Members in the 2009 Alabama Vacation Guide, which is distributed  all over the world by the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel.

Mentor Program: Mentors are available for members. Your participation is important. Join hands with an Association of Bed and Breakfast owners who network together. Will you join us?
